How To Get Your Boyfriend To Cook Healthy Meals

Sometimes we like to eat different things to our partners, but there are ways to compromise. If you like to eat more healthily than your boyfriend, here are a few tips to get him cooking the way you like it...

Rather than seducing - or forcing - him into it, make healthy versions of things he likes.

My boyfriend loves a pie, especially one with chicken and leek. Instead of heavy individual pies surrounded by puff or shortcrust pastry, we make Joe Wicks' Lean in 15 Chicken Pie.

It's made with filo pastry on top, so it's lighter, and we boil broccoli to go with it. Creamy and delicious, a great healthy alternative to a household favourite.

Another favourite of ours is penne arrabiata with chicken.

It's already got great credentials. A spicy tomato sauce, which we make ourselves, that features chilli - widely thought to boost metabolism - and chicken, a brilliant source of protein.

I switch classic penne for whole wheat fusilli and, while he tops his with parmesan, I leave the cheese to him.

If he's less inclined to eat and cook healthier meals, then he's likely to be willing to make tiny alternations for you. Perhaps extra tasty vegetable side dishes rather than creamy mash or greasy chips.

Remember to look on the positive side, my friend Emma says her boyfriend Kyle is generally a pretty healthy cook.

"He makes everything from scratch and loves trying new herbs and spices," she said, "and loves to grow his own, so I guess it's more rewarding using healthy ingredients!"

My partner is good like this too. What about you? Have others ideas? Tweet me @SVMullins
